This is Sydney Street which, in itself, is unremarkeble. However there is a story about a Mr. Jenkinson who lived there. When Place’s chimneys were being demolished, the ground on to which they fell was very boggy. It seems that he was hit in the mouth with a clod of earth and this made him swallow his false teeth. An account of this was found in an old issue of the News of the World and the cutting is now lodged in Darwen Library. |
