Until relatively recently, the houses on the left of this picture were in Alexander Terrace (long gardens) and the houses on the right (up the steps) were in Carus Street, the entire street being named after Alexander Carus of the firm which became Vernon Carus whose premises were at St Paul’s Mill down the road towards Waterside. The father of Rosemary Leach who opened the Millennium Green used to live on Alexander Terrace.. |
