The Trustees sign the Document to transfer the land to the Village

Our Green is one of many which has been created throughout Britain to mark the Millennium.  It has taken five years’ hard work to get to the stage we are at now.

Blackburn with Darwen Council have granted the land to the Village on a 999 year lease, and there is now a Committee of Trustees to oversee the development and upkeep of the land.  It was funded partly by the Millennium Commission through the Countryside Agency (this is Lottery Funding) and partly by donation.  For every £1.00 we receive, we received £1.00 from the Lottery Funding up to a given maximum.  Up to now, for the first phase which has been completed recently, that maximum was £42,000.

The majority of the work is now complete, but we welcome help with money for the upkeep of the Green and physical help with mowing, tidying, etc.  We have regular working weekends which are advertised in the village.

If you feel able to make a contribution, whether financial or in terms of goods or work, please get in touch with Linda Dawson, our Fundraising Leader and Chairman on 01254 703333. or contact us by e-mailing info@hoddlesen.org.
